Aegean Maritime Museum of Mykonos
Housed in the Cycladic 19th century building in Tria Pigadia, the Aegean Maritime Museum in Mykonos features exhibits related to the significant maritime history of the island: naval and maritime related paintings and gravures, ship models and various navigation instruments, ancient artifacts, coins and tools. The personnel of the Aegean Maritime Museum in Mykonos, undertook the rescuing and maintenance of many historical findings, such as the Armenistis Lighthouse, the Evagelistria sailing ship and the cable steam boat Thalis o Milisios, which were salvaged and restored by the museum and are workable today with their original technology. The lighthouse is located in the museum’s garden, while the two boats are hosted by the Trokantero marina, at Palaio Faliro, in Athens. |
